Antony Gormley Inspired Sculptures-Year 2

For the last 2 Monday afternoons we have been very fortunate in having Mrs Kay, an Art teacher from Teign School working with us in 2HT.

Our time has been spent learning about Antony Gormley who is an English sculptor who is best known as the creator of Angel of the North.

He has also made works of art created by placing thousands of tiny clay figures together.

Almost all of his work takes the human body as its inspiration.
Gormley's sculptures lack any personal detail distinguishing them as a particular human being. Instead, the forms are smoothed out making them completely anonymous.

We  have used this approach as a starting point and have created our own clay figures.

Mrs Kay is going to fire them in the kiln at Teign School for us so they will be very strong and will even be able to placed outside around the school grounds!
