This Thursday 5th March is World Book Day. Because of this we are doing lots of exciting book based activities all week. These include; visits to the library, story telling sessions, a visiting theatre company and everyone dressing up as a book character!
Many classes are learning about specific authors (the people who write the stories) but this blog post is all about illustrators. Some authors illustrate their own stories, for example Quentin Blake and Shirley Hughes but many books are a collaboration between an author and an illustrator, for example Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
Often in picture books the words and pictures work together to tell the story, for example in Janet and Allan Ahlberg's lovely story 'Peepo'
Occasionally the pictures alone tell the story, for example in Quentin Blake's wonderful book 'Clown'
