On Thursday 6th
July, Day 4 of Arts week, Warburtons came in to visit for the second time this
term! They brought ingredients to make bread:
flour, warm water, yeast and salt. There were strict hygiene protocols
to follow with hair nets and aprons!
First we mixed the
flour and water together then we added the salt and yeast. After that the fun
really began as we could ditch the wooden spoon and get messy by needing the
dough and breaking into smaller balls so we each had a piece to model.
Finally we choose our
underwater character and thought about ways in which we could make it using our
dough. Inspired by our visit to the aquarium we made sea cucumbers, sea snails,
jelly fish, turtles, clown fish, sting rays and even an octopus!
The bread cooked beautifully
in our school kitchen (thank you Mrs Mendal!) and we were so excited to see how
the dough had risen and not lost its intended shape. Hopefully all the children
would have enjoyed eating their fresh bread for tea and hopefully might have
even shared a piece with a family member!
