A Rangoli is a colourful design made on the floor
near the entrance to a house to welcome guests. At Diwali, Hindus draw bright Rangoli patterns to
encourage the goddess Lakshmi to enter their homes.
Tibetan monks spent long hours creating Rangoli
patterns pouring their love and positive thoughts into the creation. When complete, they would sweep it up and put
it in bags to distribute to others so that they too might experience love and
positivity. The dust that was left was
swept up and sprinkled into the river to be washed down to the sea. This would carry the love and positivity
around the world.
The children in Year 5 were lucky enough to
have a day of art from an expert in Indian Art.
Kate Green led the creation of our beautiful sun using nature’s gifts to
us – carrots, cucumber, celery, cabbage, beans, lentils, peppers, leaves,
twigs, shells, flowers, grass…
It was an amazing experience and the end result
is astonishing!
