Lockdown Art Challenge - Make a Sketch Book - Part 1

Have you ever been to an art gallery?

It is fun visiting art galleries and being inspired by all the creativity!  Sometimes when you visit a gallery it is a good idea to take a sketchbook to draw the exciting things you find so you can remember them afterwards.

Plenty of art galleries have websites so you can still enjoy the art even during lockdown. There are some links to some of these websites down the side of the main page of the blog. You could even visit these websites and find some interesting things to try and draw.

Two friends called Iris and Tom decide to take a trip to an art gallery called 'Firstsite' to look at the art and get inspired, but oh no! They don’t have a sketchbook! Watch the video below to learn how to make one, and encounter some surprises along the way…

After you have watched the video can you make your own sketch book? What size paper will you start with?  How will you decorate the front cover?  What drawings will you fill it with? Maybe you could write a picture story or draw some objects that you find around your house. Will you use pencils, felt tips, crayons or something else?

There are no wrong or right responses to these questions, the important thing is to enjoy doing it!

Remember to share your sketch books with us by emailing a photo to the school office, we would love to see them.

Have fun art fans! Mrs Hadley.
