Lockdown Art Challenge - Potato Printing!

Hello Everyone!

Did you know that you can use vegetables as printing blocks?

Today I thought I would share how you can use potatoes to create art.

It is a bit messy but really good fun!  You don't need too much fancy equipment and you can even use leftover paint testers if your grown ups have any around the house.

Please share your finished results with me and your teachers by uploading your art to Seesaw, I would love to see how you get on.

You will need:

  • potato
  • pencil
  • paperclip/knife (a plastic knife should be sharp enough)
  • acrylic paint/ready mix paint/paint tester/printing ink
  • paintbrush/sponge

Here are two online tutorials to follow.  They each demonstrate slightly different techniques. Follow along with either one (or both!) and learn how to make a fantastic potato print. How many different prints can you make?

Remember to share your printing with us at admin@rydonprimary.org.uk

Have fun art fans!
