Henri Matisse Cut Outs - Year 2

In Year Two the children have learned about a very famous artist artist called Henri Matisse who was born in France in  December 1869.

Matisse started drawing and painting as a child before becoming a painter when he was an adult.  As he got older and became poorly, Matisse started making art by cutting out shapes from colourful pieces of paper.  His pictures are great as they are so bright, bold and cheerful!

Here are some finished collages from 2C. The children thought carefully about the composition of their collages and used contrasting colours against each other. Aren't they brilliant?!
